InspiRock Travel Itinerary Planner

I often find, when planning my….sorry our (need to add my wife here)…next adventure, that the world is such a big place and with so many possibilities, it is often difficult to decide where to go on holiday. When narrowing down the options, some of the questions we have to nail down to provide the framework for a holiday are:

  1. East or West
  2. North of South
  3. Duration
  4. Type of Holiday (Adventure or chill)
  5. Budget
  6. Etc….

So now that the basic framework is in place, we can start looking at specific countries to travel to. I must admit, there is always a bit of friction here when it comes to planning the next adventure as all of us are so different and our needs or interests vary a lot. This is why I want to share with you this amazing product that my wife stumbled across and we thought about giving it a go.

The product is called InspiRock and it was designed to help people like myself come up with ideas and combinations based on your personal settings and requirements. Sound good? Well let me tell you a little about how this product works in detail.

Itinerary Planner:

The first step in the planning of your next adventure is to list the desired destination you wish to travel to. Yes you need to have at least decided on a general location otherwise the program will not have enough parameters to work off. So the destination can be a country, a region or a city that you have thought of travelling to so, it does not have to be a list of cities or super detailed, it just needs a general indication of your preference. During our testing of this product, my wife and I were planning a trip to Denmark, so we plugged that into the field and I will share with you the results of that test.

The next step is the dates as this affects the types of activities offered by the program. This also enables the program to calculate the duration of your trip in an attempt to optimize the route selection for that area. There is no point for the site to plan the most amazing ski adventure in the height of summer so the dates will be configured into the program to tailor the solution to the season. Our dates were 23.11.2018 – 03.12.2018 so this will be an end of autumn, beginning of winter adventure so making this a beach centred trip was not really a major priority.

Specifying Desired Activities:

The type of holiday and the success of this website is that it is able to tailor your needs to an offer that both appeals and inspires you.

The first section on type of holiday destinations is between Popular, Balanced or Hidden-Gems. This will tailor the selection to either the really main steam tourist centres, the more off-the-beaten-track or a mixture of the two. I selected the balanced option as we like a little of both so this will suit our needs.

The second criteria is the speed at which you want to see things, Fast-Paced, Medium or Slow-an-Easy. We were planning 11 days in Denmark so in this case it wasn’t the longest trip ever but then again it was not just a long weekend. In this case a medium paced journey would provide a good variety of destinations together with enough time to properly see them too.

The next selection panel, you can choose 1 out of 9 or all 9 if they all catch your fancy. The selections are as follows:

  1. Culture*
  2. Outdoors*
  3. Relaxing*
  4. Romantic
  5. Beaches
  6. Historic Sites*
  7. Museums*
  8. Shopping *
  9. Wildlife

I have put an asterix * next to my selection to illustrate the results of this program. Once you have selected your activities then click the button “See My Plan” and wait for the results.

The Results:

The results are structured under 4 main categories namely: Route, Day-to-Day, Where to Stay and How to Travel.

Route:

This section gives an overview of the suggested route planning based on the parameters that have been provided during the initial process. The results are as follows:

InspiRock - 8 Days in Denmark

It provides some suggestions for time management and a little history about the areas that you will visit. The main attractions or highlights are planned into the itinerary for you:

Day-By-Day:

The results of the day to day will illustrate an indicative program of what to see and more or less the time frames that you can see this in:

Day-to-Day

In the top right, there will be some suggestions such as the public transport possibilities, day trip excursions or the hop-on/hop-off buses including some of the pricing related to these products.

Where to Stay:

InspiRock has linked their site to both TripAdviser and AirBnB in an attempt to give you the best selection of accommodation for the itinerary provided. These are linked to the cities that are suggested and aimed at being as centrally located as possible to best optimize your time.

How to Travel:

The last tab is the “How to Travel” tab which assists with flights, rental cars and train bookings. Often I have found that the transportation is the most stressful part of the planning process as it is mostly unknown at this stage what the best mode of transport is and what the best combination could be.

This process has been made simple in this case as the website integrates your wishes into the algorithm to best maximize your experience using your preferences and what is locally available.

Should You Trust Them?

The site comes highly rated with some really well-known names endorsing them:

  • Forbes
  • Los Angeles Times
  • Business Insider
  • Economic Times
  • The Huffington Post

These are just to name a few. In addition to these names, this sire scores a rating of 8.8 / 10 in the TrustScore rating system.

Hey Richard! I hope you’re doing well. Firstly, I’m a big fan of travel and I really loved the way you’ve explained stuff in this post. This is the best post in my opinion because it contains lot of useful information.

When I traveled to the Netherlands, I had a worst experience because I contacted a random travel & tourism company that had bad reviews. I didn’t notice that but that one vacation ruined my whole year.

The next time I plan a trip, I’ll make sure to revisit your blog so that I can plan for something better. Thank you for taking your time in creating this post. Have a nice day ahead. Cheers!

      Hey AV,

Im really sorry to hear that you had such a terrible experience in the Netherlands. There are a number of people offering different packages but not all of them are good or worth while.

I love this product as it is a real wealth of information and has been tried and tested with great success. I am glad to have offered some good advice and wish you better success on your next journey.

    Hi Richard,

Thanks for writing this article. That looks like a really useful product! It always takes so long planning a trip and InspiRock looks like it makes planning so easy! Out of interest, is the information about the destinations contributed to by the general public (i.e. can you add your own reviews, rate destinations etc)?

For our next trip, I think I’m definitely going to give this a go!

    Cheers,

    Darryl

      Hello Darryl,

If you go to the bottom of the site, there is a tab called “Plans by Other Users” under the “Browse” heading. These are trips that are planned and reviewed by people that used this product. There are adventures such as “4 days in Goa” and “8 day in New York City” where the travelers themselves put together an itinerary that might suite your needs.

From what I have seen, the descriptions of the places suggested are written by the website author however when making bookings, there is always a star rating option where you can write a review of you experience. This will then be pulled through to InspiRock as part of the rating.

I hope this helps and good luck with planning your next adventure.

I think your wife wife stumbled across a really great website! We are, at the moment, looking for a trip to Yucatan. I entered the details on InspiRock and it came with some great suggestions. I would like to be able to tell the program how many stops we would like to include in our trip. Do you know if that is possible? I can’t find it.

    • Richard says:

      Hi Rob,

Unfortunately it is not possible to put the steps in like you are requesting. What the algorithm tries to do is hit the best possible combinations for the time specified. What I can suggest is that you experiment a little with the speed setting. If you find there are too many steps then slow it down and if not enough then speed it up.

Let me know if this helps you get closer to what you are looking for. The suggestion part of the results is great as often the suggestions listed in this section are ones you were either not aware of or did not know existed.

Let me know if this solves the problem

My wife and I and not huge travelers in our 32 years together, yet we have been to many places others would have loved to have visited, China, UAE, India, Caribbean, Mexico, USA and soon Australia and New Zealand so I am glad to have read about this tool to plan the trip.

I have to admit several countries like India for example, we had a relative who planned it for us and as a result we were able to discover places we would have likely missed should that have not been the case. The travel planner makes great sense to use to ensure that the real gems are not missed out of ignorance. The fact  that it is tied together with Trip Advisor and AirBNB(which we already use) makes it definitely a plus.

While reading about this tool, I noticed several travel items we are looking into as well. Thanks for the informative article.

      Hello Bill,

Well for someone who considers himself “not well traveled”, you have certainly got around over the years. Main stream destinations are easy to plan as the highlights are well publicized and the routes are popular. The tool comes in handy with inexperienced travels, exotic locations or places that one has visited often but you are looking for something new to keep it interesting.

The pairing of well known websites such as AirBnB and TripAdvisor give travelers a better sense of security as these sites will not just approve partnerships without a proper vetting process. It adds authority to the site to know that so many well known brands find it to be credible.

All the best on your next adventure and should you need any assistance with InspiRock, feel free to contact me.

    Hi Richard,

I’m very glad I came upon this post about InspiRock. It really looks like a great program to help us in our vacation holiday this December. We are planing of three (3) different places to visits this year. Last year, my wife and I were able to visit two different countries. But I must say that, there were times when we felt overwhelmed as it was our first time of visiting some of the places we went and didn’t know much about our destinations before the trip.

We are having similar plans this year as I said, but we still feel a little bit anxious as to which place will be the best to choose. My wife has some few suggested countries, I also have my own preferred places to visit.

So, I think using this program will be the best option, as it will give both of us a preview of our destinations before making the move. We are looking at some nice tourist attraction places to visit. I have Bookmarked this article when I get home I will recommend it to her so we both can make good use of this nice tool to make a final decision on where to visit.

Thanks a lot for sharing this useful article with us.

    Stephen.

    • Richard says:

      Hello Stephen,

It appears that you and I are in the same boat when it comes to planning our vacations. Time and money are always the constricting factors and the world is such a big place that I just want to get out there and see it all. Unfortunately until this becomes a reality, I will have to settle for my annual vacations and this tool has really helped my wife and I evaluate what in our opinion is the best value for money when making a final decision.

I am glad you found InspiRock a great tool and should you have and other questions regarding the product, leave me a comment or an email and I will help you out.

Best of luck on your next adventure.

      Rich
